Dr. Jamie Spillane, Headliner Clinician
Dr. Jamie Spillane is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at University of Connecticut where he directs the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and teaches undergraduate and graduate choral conducting and choral literature. Previously, Dr. Spillane was Director of Choirs at Roberts Wesleyan College and Iowa Wesleyan College as well as Director of the Symphonic Choir, the premier undergraduate choir, at the University of Arizona. For fourteen years, Dr. Spillane was chairman of the Ledyard High School Music Department in Ledyard, CT where he directed a choral program that grew to over 400 singers in twelve choirs. Ensembles under his direction have performed throughout America and the great cathedrals of Europe including Notre Dame, Chartres, Salisbury, Coventry, Trinity, Salzburg, St. Stephen’s in Vienna and the Duomo in Florence. Dr. Spillane is a very active festival conductor and adjudicator and has conducted All-State and honor choirs in twelve states. He has worked with ensembles of all types, from conducting large choral orchestral works to directing award winning vocal jazz ensembles and church choirs. He is on the National Assoc. for Music Education – National Advisory Board for Choral Music Education and is a Past President of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
